Inspired to Create

Hi, blogworld, boy did I miss you. I have been meaning to start this blog for a long time now. I designated this blogspot over two years ago to be where I post all my creative and design inspired ideas. And, wow, two years came and went without much creativity in my life.  In those two years, I finished my graduate program and started my first big girl career.  Yay me!!! I have an awesome job and I love it, but sometimes it leaves me a little emotionally drained and burnt out. At least, that's what I tell myself is the reason I went two years without doing what I love as a hobby.  Speaking of hobbies, everyone should have one or more. Whether it is exercising, recycling, dumpster diving, singing, cooking, creating ... you should be doing it.  Humans weren't meant to sit behind a desk, we have a natural inclination to move our bodies and work with our hands and tools; We have thumbs for a reason, people! That's just my two cents for the day.

Anyways, as far back as I can remember, I wanted to create. My mom likes to remind me of the time I used scissors, glue, and paper to make her a functional clasped purse at the age of five.  She should have expected it, she is a graphic designer after all. That early interest in crafts continued as I grew up and THANK GOODNESS I live in an era of internet and YouTube. I taught myself how to knit and crochet from YouTube, how to build my bed from ana-white.com, and basic design and color concepts from Pinterest. Lately, my desire has turned to wanting to make ugly, broken, forgotten or thrown away things pretty and useful again. Maybe it's the rebellion against big box stores in me or the fact that things are no longer built to last, but rather to be thrown away when broken or trends die. My goal is to inspire you to recreate, reinvent, reuse, and refashion your parents or grandparents style into your own and share my own creations on this online platform. Any feedback is welcome!
